Named Museum of the Year 2016, the V&A Museum is the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design, housing a permanent collection of over 4.5 million objects and probably the most romantic museum in the UK. Actually, it looks like an enormous, eclectic and eccentric treasure house of works by some of the best designers, craftsmen and sculptors from many cultures and times. It was founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. During WWII, it partly served as an RAF canteen and was hit repeatedly by bombs. The holdings of ceramics, glass, textiles, costumes, silver, ironwork, jewellery, furniture, medieval objects, sculpture, prints and printmaking, drawings and photographs are among the largest and most comprehensive in the world and spread over 7 miles of galleries on 6 different levels. The collections are stunning and of unique importance - but they span such a range of interests and cultures that it can take several visits even to begin to grasp what is there. Our 2-hour private tour of the V&A museum aims at making the visit more enjoyable (especially if you have children/teenagers in your party!) and less overwhelming.

During this 2-hour tour of the V&A museum, you will get first a short introduction about the history of the V&A and how it all began with the 1851 Great Exhibition. Then our passionate guide will help you pick your way through the highlights of the Museum and will try to tailor this private tour to your preferences.

You will have the chance to admire stunning masterpieces from Da Vinci, Michelangelo, David Bowie, Raphael, Constable and many other artists/cultures. We will take a closer look at the British Galleries, a comprehensive collection showing the development of British design and art from 1500 to 1900. Then you will discover the amazing Cast Courts (which house a staggering display of life-size plaster casts made in the 19th Century of famous European statues and monuments), Raphael’s cartoons for the Sistine Chapel, Tippu's Tiger and the world's most valuable carpet. You will stroll through the stunning silver and glass galleries admiring works old and new - the collection continues to inspire designers today. Your professional guide will immerse you in the life of those artists through the last 5000 years so that you understand how they dramatically changed the art and the way to look at it. You will learn a lot and enjoy all this beauty at the same time.

Please note we can also design an itinerary around your specific interests such as Modern Scandinavian Design, Oriental Art, the World’s Most Famous Carpets or Islamic Decorative Art (with a few days prior notice).
