During this 10-hour private guided tour of Stonehenge & Avebury, you will have the opportunity to discover both the most mystical prehistoric site in UK (Stonehenge) and the largest stone circle in the world (Avebury).

Our professional driver and our Blue Badge guide will both pick you up at your hotel (or apartment) to drive you first to Stonehenge (2-hour drive). Located right in the middle between Bristol and Southampton, Stonehenge exudes mystery, spiritualism and beauty: Stonehenge is the most famous and mysterious ancient site in the United Kingdom. The giant stones dominate the Wiltshire countryside, and five thousand years after the circle was built, it continues to astound archeologists as it is a masterpiece of engineering. Perhaps it was a ceremonial temple; an astronomical observatory; a burial place created by King Arthur; or part of a larger complex with areas devoted to the dead and the living. Some people think it was built by aliens – and Druids believe it was constructed on the site of converged ley lines (a mysterious energy grid). Our Blue Badge guide will explain you the history of this ancient site (it is one of Seven Wonders of the Medieval World), pointing out the altar, slaughter and heel stones, above which the sun rises dramatically on the summer solstice. Stonehenge is today on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

You will be able to get as close as around 10 meters (11 yards) from the stones and if you'd like, we can also arrange for you a VIP access in the inner circle at sunset time for an extra cost (subject to availability). In this latter case, you will enter the stone circle itself and stand beside the mighty Sarsen rocks towering above you!

After this amazing visit, you will have a lunch in one of the local restaurants and then our Blue Badge guide will bring you to Avebury (around 40 min drive).

Avebury henge and stone circles are one of the greatest marvels of prehistoric Britain. Built and much altered during the Neolithic period, roughly between 2850 BC and 2200 BC, the henge survives as a huge circular bank and ditch, encircling an area that includes part of Avebury village. Within the henge is the largest stone circle in Britain - originally of about 100 stones - which in turn encloses two smaller stone circles. Avebury is part of an extraordinary set of Neolithic and Bronze Age ceremonial sites that seemingly formed a vast sacred landscape. They include West Kennet Avenue, West Kennet Long Barrow, The Sanctuary, Windmill Hill, and the mysterious Silbury Hill that our Blue Badge Guide will show you.

We will then drive you back to London and drop you off at your hotel or apartment.
